If you do dream in colour and in rhyme, this one is for you. Hip-Hop lovers have always maintained that Hip-Hop is not just a music genre, but it is a culture. It is the way we live, breathe and eat. We always question young men that walk around with their pants sagging, huge caps on their heads, tops that look like dresses, spray cans in their hands, hectic words on their lips... What you do not know is that this is part of the Hip-Hop culture. Underground or not, we all have love for this game.
To celebrate this culture, Sprite "Uncontainable" is taking on the task of finding South Africa's finest Hip-Hop lovers in the categories of dance, graffiti and emceeing. If you have what it takes to blow the world away with your art and have one of the greatest underground rappers, Talib Kweli as your mentor, you know what to do, right? Enter the competition and keep the movement going. We love Hip-Hop and it loves us. Show some respect!

Do listen to Hip Hop too, especially local Hip Hop. Though seriously got a problem with our locally based rappers who speak and wear the American way talking Slikour and Speedy here "HA SE MO STATES MO!!!". Take Prokid for example, that guy still rocks his all stars like nobody's biz. Another rapper Da-Les, he grew up in America but he has conformed to our way, he doesn't speak funny, neither does he clothe funny. LETS KEEP IT REAL.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Seth, our local artists should embrace South African music and not try to imitate international standards. As Mageu said vele "HA SE MO STATES MO!" for real.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in knowing more about HIP HOP,because in the past i was not allowed to listen to any music, but now i have the freedom.
ReplyDeleteI think Hip-Hop is the same all over, it's a culture and it doesn't change, it shouldn't change. Hip-Hop heads will always dress in the same way that they do because it is not about trying to be American, it is about keeping the culture and movement alive.
