Award-winning musician, Zahara |
The English have Adele and we have Zahara. Red dress, big afro, stunning voice... This girl gave an amazing performance of her hit song, Loliwe, this Monday at this year's South African Music Awards and to top it all, she took home eight awards. Such talent! Could she be another local 'one hit wonder'? I would like to believe that she has more to offer.
The awards were hosted by a number of people, Arthur Mafokate being one of them and boy, did he look handsome in that suit, man! The new management under South African Idols judge, Randall Abraham, did an amazing job. There were a few dull moments, but it's nothing that cannot be fixed. What I loved is that the Lifetime achivement award went to people that are still alive, unlike in the past when it was given to honour people that have already passed on. It was a great show to watch and very exciting to see that music does unite people. We do it for the love of music. samusicawards.co.za/
South Africa is one of a few countries that is bleesed with soulful and authentic music. The performances were engaging and entertaining, a person watching from home was made to feel as though they were physically present at the awards.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly felt like we were there, physically. The performances were awesome too.
DeleteI feel like a was watching too, even if i didn't,wow I am impressed by what happend on Monday.Zahara she the one,Eight awards and she is still a newcomer that is amazing for real.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Lifetime awards given to people who are still alive it motivates me alot.
Loved the Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse and Riaan Cruywagen (SABC nuus reader) touch to the SAMA's however felt it was running for too long at times.
ReplyDeleteI also thought they went on for too long, found them exhausting.
DeleteI really do think that there is more to come from Zahara, she does not seem like a one hit wonder. She has what it takes to make it in the music industry and this is evident in the way she handles things. The things that were said in the media about DJ Sbu and TS records exploiting her and the way she handled that whole saga is an example of her grit and determination.
ReplyDeleteWe just have to wait and see. I do not doubt her talent, it's her management that I have a problem with.
Deletei really think zahara is being exploit by her record label, everything she ever worked for is being diverted to the record label. She deserves half of the profits.
ReplyDeleteZahara realy have a voice and one thing i like about her is that she did not geot discouraged about what people said to her and her songs got a message, she is going somewhere. BOSSO KE ZAHARA!!
